I’ve worked my entire career in marketing, communications and design. Things were a bit different when I started. Fortunately, the foundations of strategy and creativity are still fundamentals that apply, no matter what the medium. In fact, they are more important than ever. Strategy now requires objectives that are measurable to a greater depth in order to determine and evaluate levels of success, and the nature of the new media available to us are requiring a creativity beyond just copy and design. Even if this weren’t the case, I’ve been around long enough to learn that no matter how much I know, there’s a lot more that I don’t know. I do know how to target an audience, lay out a strategy based on solid business and marketing objectives, and measure results to determine success. I know how to build a brand, build awareness, preference and bring in sales. I’m learning along with the rest of us the ever-expanding opportunities the Internet offers. We are in the “wild west” of the Internet, and social media has come to town, bringing with it more changes, challenges and opportunities than ever before. So, I plan to use this blogsite to explore the changing marketing and business landscape, and contribute to the conversation. I hope you will join me in the ongoing discussion!
